Visitors by Land and Sea - Saturday

Writer: mesacomesaco

Today has been a very anticipated day - for weeks. Gord's parents and godparents came for an outing on the water. They came with lunch in hand and generous gifts in tow. When we got them all safely aboard (the low tide was sure to make this more difficult than wanted) Jaxon gave them a tour of Holy Cow. We sat and caught up with a nice chat, the kids opened the well thought out generous gifts that were brought and there were special items for Gord and I as well. After a pour of champagne and toast all around, we started the engines and headed out for a lovely mid morning tour. Brooklyn was at the helm with Gord close by, we wandered our way out from the canal, past the beaches of Tigertail. Not to be outdone, Jaxon soon captained the boat into the channel to more open waters. Brooklyn was on crab pot watch.

It was a lovely drive out. We decided to anchor just off the shore of Residence Beach. We dropped the anchor and it set with ease. We were locked in and the only thing to do was to enjoy the day. Lunch was put out, people helped themselves, we shared stories, laughed and the kids and Gord even jumped in for a swim. Brooklyn spotted something just off the starboard side of the boat. We raced over to see what it was. It was a sea turtle just starting to dive deep. We only got a glimpse, but it was exciting.

Colleen (remember her? she took the kids to the beach) was at Residence Beach. She and her husband, Tom, were enjoying the day and saw us cruise in and anchor just off shore. Colleen bravely swam out to us. The kids and Gord swam out a little to greet her. We had a lovely visit. What a great day enjoying our visitors from land and sea. Colleen said her goodbyes, jumped back in and made her way back to shore. When we saw her there safe and sound, we gave a giant wave goodbye, pulled up anchor (the fuse didn't pop) and made our way back to our temporary home dock. Along the way, the Ospreys were perched on the channel markers making them easy subjects for pictures.

It was a lovely day.
