It's nice to be on the dock today. It's hot and we have the air conditioning on. Since we will be here for a few days, I decide to do an order by Instacart. I frequently use a grocery pick up option back home, but I have not done one by Instacart. I download the App, register and start my order. It's a big one. I'd like to provision for a good while. We go through the fresh produce quickly. I schedule the order for a morning delivery and cross my fingers.
There's so much that doesn't make the blog. It would be impossible, or too lengthy to capture it all. We've had ongoing issues with our freezer and these blasted heads (toilets). Gord has spent so much time in the bowels of Holy Cow trying to troubleshoot the issues with these toilets. He's been on the phone with Raz Marine many times and they've been helpful. Gord has decided that he is going to disassemble the master head plumbing system and have the pump rebuilt while we are in Fort Lauderdale. He gets to work on that. How convenient that we have two heads on board!
In the morning, I get notification that my shopper is completing my grocery list. It's an amazing service since it is in real time. I can chat to the shopper and approve substitutions immediately or request alternatives. It's great. The delivery is right on time and I meet Tellis at the road to help him schlep all the groceries across the lot to the boat. Gord has the rather large poop pump out and clean and ready to go to Raz Marine. It's 8:00am, and he's already been on the phone with Mike to organize the rebuild. We plan to call an Uber to drop the pump off and hopefully have it back by tomorrow for installation. Tellis said he was more than willing to help, and since he was already delivering the groceries, he'd be happy to deliver the pump for us. Well that worked out fabulously. We paid Tellis the cost of an Uber plus tip and off he went. How convenient. We got a call a little while later from Raz Marine that the pump had arrived and they'd start working on it asap.
There has been so little down time, we are looking forward to having some friends from back home, who are staying in Florida for a bit, to the boat. We get some chores, cleaning and organizing done. Doug and Kellie are running a few errands for us and bringing us some dog food as well. It's been difficult to arrange food for Tahna and Brodie, despite me changing brands specifically for this trip. 110 pounds of dog food has been delivered to Doug and Kellie's place in Florida. I am not kidding. Good friends right! We also get notice the pump is ready at Raz Marine and Doug and Kellie pick that up for us too. We are so thankful.
When Doug and Kellie arrive, it's a much needed break from the work, planning, travel routine we've been in. It is so great to see them, and for them to share in this part of our adventure. We have a lovely visit in the air conditioned salon of Holy Cow, and then head out to Kaluz for dinner. We pile into their truck and make the short drive over. It feels odd to be on the road and I make a joke about it. What are these things called street lights? We've been away from home for a month, and on the water for over three weeks.
Dinner is amazing. Kaluz is a great restaurant. Jaxon tries a crab cake for the first time and loves it. When our plates are clean and our bellies full, we head back to Holy Cow to sit on the back deck and enjoy the evening and some conversation. Jeff (boat broker) joins us, which is really nice. It's good to see him, and nice to thank him again for everything he's done for us.
As the evening winds down, we all head to bed. Brooklyn is sleeping in the top bunk tonight, while our first overnight guests move into the VIP Stateroom. In the morning, we enjoy a lovely start to the day with some coffee, tea, muffins and egg and ham sandwiches. After a little visit, Doug and Kellie decide they will be on their way and we say our goodbyes. It was so nice to have them on board and we hope they will join us again this summer when Holy Cow is on Georgian Bay.

After our guests leave, it's back to the task list for us. Gord installs the toilet pump with fingers crossed it resolves our situation. There's business, laundry and errands to run by dinghy. We get a pretty heavy rainstorm in the late afternoon, which keeps us inside but we organize and get things ready for the morning. We want to be off the dock tomorrow by 7:30am.
Oh! Did you know this is how pineapples grow? Apparently, you can just cut the stem off one you purchase in a grocery store and plant it. It will grow into this leafy plant and produce a pineapple! So cool!
Jeff snapped some pictures of Holy Cow leaving the dock in the morning which was so nice of him. It's always great to get pictures from a different perspective.
