This may be offensive to you. It's a little offensive to us and entirely illegal in the Great Lakes! Regulations in the ocean are that if you are over three miles from shore, you can discharge your black water tanks into the water. Disgusting, but legal, and a normal practice in this area of the great blue!
So today is the day we will head out and make sure our system and pumps are functioning properly and discharge what is in our tanks. We prepare for departure. This is good practice for us. It's unnerving taking Holy Cow off the dock. We've done it before during the Christmas Break, but this is our first outing since arriving in Florida this time. We start the engines, we untie and shove away from the dock

The drive out from the dock is along the canals of Marco Island and it is beautiful. Dolphins are often seen swimming about, pelicans sit like regal statues on posts with their judging expressions watching as we float by, the homes are impressive and the landscaping is flawless.
We have a smooth trip out to our destination of choice far off shore and we start the process. We run the pump 15 minutes aside, we think the process is complete, we turn the pump off and start our way back to the shore. The entire trip out and back in is approximately 3 hours.
The day is calm, the sun is shining and it feels good to have Holy Cow off the dock and out on the water. We discuss the process which we've just done and Gord and I decide it's not our practice of choice. We will plan our trip to ensure that we have regular pump outs at marinas. It's our decision that this will be the only time we discharge our tanks overboard...or is it? Sigh...stay tuned!

Good morning everyone! Tick tock and you're off of the dock. What a beautiful day to be on the water. Jaxon and Brooklyn, we see you've picked up quite a tan already!! Have you grown your sea legs for the journey? Take a picture of them if you have!! The pelican picture is National Geographic worthy!! We love you.
